“EROS”
This is my second portrayal of cupid, and an evolution in timeline: Here is the grown-up version, Eros, less frequently depicted.
I drew this from a sculpture. I find a certain menace in sculpture: It’s an inert object but it’s also a living being. It’s observant in the way a dead person is.You feel the 3D presence as a real presence. There is tension.
I’m interested in mythology. The story of Eros and Psyche conveys a theme that I study: The relationship between innocence and provocation. Psyche is challenged but ultimately wins by trusting her gut and real love.
